We are Justin and Rachel Sauerwein and Almanack Farm is our home and business. We currently raise pasture-finished, grassfed beef for direct sale to restaurants. We also produce vegetables, eggs, chicken, pork and dairy products for our home consumption.
Our farm in central Vermont consists of 240 acres, 100 of which are northern hardwood forest. In addition to grazing our pastures, we manage our forest for firewood, timber, and wildlife habitat.
While our products are not certified organic, we do not use any chemicals on our farm—just plenty of manure recycled into the pasture and on our garden.
We strive to care for the life around us as we make our own living and are guided in our work by considerations of integrity, economy, health, and beauty.
